Roles for Experienced Volunteers & Mechanics
Mentor: Supervise apprentice mechanics, sharing your enthusiasm and skills as neededSpecialty Mechanical Adviser: If you have lots of experience with particular repair area, be our expert; examples might include three-speed hubs, shock overhaul, frame straightening, wheel truing, etc.
Pre-QA Inspector: Provide our first level of quality assurance inspection--before each project receives a green tag and leaves its repair stand
Final QA Inspector: Be the final word in quality assurance. Requires extensive experience.
Inventory Manager: Sort incoming parts, provide parts as needed to volunteers, and issue restocking requests.
Bike Salesperson: Helps connect buyers with bikes. Must be familiar with market values of used bicycles.
Workday Announcer: You love to perform and are familiar with our program. Two main announcements--volunteer orientation and the lunch time announcements.
Workday Foreperson: Responsible for managing the whole event, before, during and after. A great leadership development role.
Behind-the-Scenes Volunteer: It takes a lot of work to run the Bicycle Exchange. Join us in laying the foundation for our workday and donation events. Activities include Craigslist sales, inner tube patching, grant writing, corporate event organizing, sales receipts uploading and accounting.
