How We Got Our Flag

From March 2013: The Bicycle Exchange has its own American flagCertificateFromAircraftMaintenanceSquadron

We responded to an urgent request from Moffet Field for mountain bikes needed for use in Afghanistan by our troops and were surprised a few months later with this appreciation. We now fly our flag from our parts cart at our workdays.

“We at the the 129th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron from Moffett Field, are under the command of the 26th Expeditionary Rescue Squadron in Camp Bastian, Afghanistan, would like to show our appreciation for the efforts put forth by your volunteer staff at Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange in providing us 6 mountain bikes. We flew this flag in your honor and would like to present it to you and your staff with our many thanks. The bikes have been used daily for transportation back and forth to work which is approximately 2 miles one way. Several of us enjoy using the bikes for exercise in conjunction with the ride back and forth to work. We hope your crew will accept this flag as a small token of our friendship and we will keep you posted with some photos that will be coming.” - Cleve Burt, MSgt, USAF
